Rapid industrialization, urbanization, resource depletion, climate change, and growing energy and material demands are placing increasing pressure on natural systems and critical infrastructure. At the same time, advances in areas such as renewable energy, sustainable manufacturing, advanced materials, artificial intelligence, digitalization, biotechnology, and smart systems are creating new opportunities to address these challenges through more efficient, resilient, and environmentally responsible engineering solutions. The growing convergence of sustainability goals with emerging technologies is reshaping the way engineering systems are designed, operated, and optimized across sectors.
Against this backdrop, the Conference on Sustainable Engineering and Emerging Technologies (SE2T) is envisioned as a platform for knowledge exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, and discussion on advances that can support the transition toward more sustainable technological and industrial systems. The conference seeks to bring together researchers, academicians, industry professionals, students, and other stakeholders to share recent findings, innovative approaches, and practical applications across diverse areas of sustainable engineering and emerging technologies. It also aims to encourage dialogue on current challenges, future research directions, and opportunities for translating scientific and technological advances into solutions with meaningful environmental, societal, and industrial impact.
The BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus (BPDC) is the international campus of Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, one of India’s leading institutions for higher education and research. Established in 2000 and located in Dubai International Academic City, BPDC was the first offshore campus established by an Indian institution of higher learning. The campus offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs and has developed a strong academic ecosystem centered on engineering, science, technology, management, research, and innovation. Its emphasis on interdisciplinary learning, industry engagement, and applied research reflects the broader BITS Pilani philosophy of combining academic rigor with real-world problem solving. The campus was awarded a 5-star rating by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), in partnership with QS, in 2022, recognizing its performance across areas including teaching, research, employability, and internationalization.
Located in Dubai, a global center for technology, innovation, and sustainable development, the campus serves as a highly appropriate venue for the Conference on Sustainable Engineering and Emerging Technologies (SE2T)-2027. The conference builds on BPDC’s commitment to research, innovation, cross-disciplinary engagement, and industry–academia interaction by creating a platform for researchers, academicians, industry professionals, students, and innovators to exchange ideas across emerging areas of engineering and technology. Through technical discussions, research presentations, and opportunities for collaboration, SE2T seeks to stimulate interdisciplinary dialogue and strengthen connections between scientific advances, technological innovation, and the sustainability challenges facing industry and society.
The Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) is the apex professional body representing chemical engineering professionals in India. Established in 1947, the Institute has a nationwide presence through its regional centers and student chapters and plays an active role in advancing chemical engineering education, research, professional development, and industry–academia engagement. IIChE regularly organizes conferences, seminars, workshops, and technical programs that facilitate knowledge exchange across academia, industry, and the wider engineering community.
The association of IIChE with the Conference on Sustainable Engineering and Emerging Technologies (SE2T) strengthens the conference’s objective of fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and connecting advances in sustainable engineering with emerging technological developments and industrial practice.
The School of Interdisciplinary Research & Entrepreneurship (SIRE) at BITS Pilani fosters a dynamic ecosystem where interdisciplinary research, innovation, and entrepreneurship come together to address complex societal and industrial challenges. SIRE brings together faculty, scholars, and students from diverse disciplines to pursue high-impact research, develop innovative solutions, and translate ideas into technologies with strong real-world potential. Through its research and entrepreneurship initiatives, SIRE aims to promote collaborative thinking, advance Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs), and strengthen BITS Pilani’s contribution to world-class research, innovation, and technology-driven entrepreneurship.
Founded in 1924 with Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray as its first President, the Indian Chemical Society (ICS) is a premier scientific organization promoting excellence in chemical sciences. With 3,000+ Fellows, ICS supports research, education, and innovation through its peer-reviewed Journal of the Indian Chemical Society, conferences, seminars, symposia, and academic programs. Since 1963, ICS has organized the Annual Convention of Chemists, recognizing distinguished researchers and encouraging young scientists through awards and lectures. The Society continues to foster research, collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange nationally and internationally.
